About the role:
As an Advisor on Biofuels & Carbon Market Pricing, you will be a member of bp’s Economic and Energy Insights (EEI) Power and Low Carbon Energy Team. You will be responsible for providing analysis and insights on all aspects of the future pricing of biofuels and carbon in core markets for bp. You will also be responsible for contributing to the EEI’s wider accountabilities to lead analysis into the future of the global energy system and generate insights to inform and guide bp’s strategy and decision making.
What you will deliver:
Identify key issues, beliefs and uncertainties of most relevance to bp associated with the future trends and developments in biofuel and carbon pricing.
Coordinate with key teams across bp in leading EEI’s contribution to defining long-term biofuels prices needed for planning and investment purposes.
Work closely with key teams across bp to test and refine bp’s carbon pricing beliefs and assumptions in key strategic markets including EU.
Undertake analytical projects and provide thought leadership on these issues to produce decision-useful insights and guidance to support the needs of bp’s businesses and senior leadership.
Work closely with the rest of EEI to support the production of the team’s core outputs, including Energy Outlook and Tracking the Transition. In doing so, provide leadership and guidance on the broader role of bioenergy in the energy system.
Monitor and identify key issues and developments affecting the future of biofuel and carbon pricing. Develop and maintain a strong network of internal and external contacts to ensure up-to-date knowledge of the issues most relevant to bp and those shaping external perspectives.
What you will need to be successful:
Detailed knowledge and experience in the modelling and analysis of prices in policy and regulatory driven markets. Experience in modelling and analysis of biofuels and/or carbon markets.
Proven track record of using advanced analytical techniques and complex data sets to produce targeted, accurate and timely analytical insights. Strong ability to develop new tools and skillsets based on independent guided research.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with track record of successfully communicating complex ideas and issues to internal and external audiences.
Proven ability to work constructively and collaboratively within team environments.
Able to work on multiple simultaneous projects.
Able to build and maintain extensive internal and external networks.
