About the team:
The transformation team provides enduring transformation capability and expertise that enables bp’s evolving operating model to deliver our strategy and deliver predictable performance.
The role will design and lead people-centric transformation initiatives that are aligned to and deliver our strategic ambitions.
About the opportunity:
We are looking for a Senior Transformation Partner, who will play a pivotal role to accelerate meaningful people-centred transformation programs/projects across bp - turning strategic ambition in sustainable performance.
In this role, as the successful candidate, you will do this by:
Acting as the strategic advisor and integrator, working closely with senior partners, and alongside VP, Transformation to align and deliver transformation across a defined portfolio.
leading complex enterprise-wide people change programs by aligning strategy and execution
developing solutions with our businesses that empower bp to unlock value, adapt and thrive in a world of constant change
As the Senior Transformation Partner, you will enable successful execution of the transformation agenda, owning a subset of the portfolio, translating strategic intent into action, providing transformation expertise for our highest value projects across different entities and across the different regions, aligning partners and driving cross functional delivery in partnership with PC&C & Business Leadership, members of bp’s executive and extended leadership teams. You will manage a portfolio of different multidisciplinary transformation squads with highest calibre experts. You will also join the transformation program/project working group to drive and lead certain transformation elements and coordinate different sub-workstreams to ensure transformation strategy, business case, plan, milestones are achieved in these critical business transformations.
You will have a number of direct reports, working closely with the Transformation team in India and the Portfolio & Offer & Standards team.
What you will deliver:
In more detail, some of your key job accountabilities will be:
Shape and drive transformation programs/projects in line with Business strategy
Together with the Business and Transformation Lead shape a high-quality transformation strategy and plan across all operating model, organization and people elements of the program/project, provide thought leadership, build a decision driven critical path to ensure value is captured at the right time.
Provide expert advise on transformation capabilities including strategy activation, delivery methods, business agility, operating model, org design, people transition/change/engagement, share best methodology and external insights.
Collaborate with key partners, including Business SVPs & P&C VPs leadership, senior leadership across finance, legal and other relevant teams as required to ensure alignment and successful execution of transformation programs/projects.
Lead the development and execution of agreed value drivers in respective projects
Understand how business strategy is delivered and support business in correctly identifying business problems, shape interventions, develop solutions and set up the delivery.
Drive overall development and execution of agreed value drivers across all workstreams, direct tasks, communicate decisions to broader working team, monitor overall progress, coordinate dependencies, risk management and issue resolution.
Ensure appropriate early measures are put in place to learn quickly adapt, ensuring early realization of value.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy activities as required to facilitate the smooth transformation of teams, processes and systems resulting from the respective project/program.
Partner with the business to shape interventions, develop solutions and set up delivery
Undertake rapid efficiency reviews across the operating model – eg Lean Efficiency Review, Red team reviews.
Explore adjacency opportunities to access new markets and product lines.
Review operating model effectiveness and developing 'to- be' designs, leading on structural, process and cultural improvements to activate strategy.
Enable maximum integrated value by leading on organisational design, ways of working, governance, performance management and culture.
Provide robust and diligent people transition services across major Transformation programmes including high level change and engagement strategy.
Build transformation capability within bp
Be the subject area owner for certain transformation capabilities to build capability for business and P&C community.
Own elements of the different playbooks and tools to support our teams.
What you will need to be successful:
Education:
You will have Degree level education or masters (MBA), supplemented by professional certifications/ qualification in one or many of the transformation capabilities/ skills
Skills:
Business strategy understanding and organisational knowledge, sound commercial acumen, leadership in inspiring change, ability to co-create with and influence key senior partners, understanding how to drive culture and behavioural change
Strong understanding of Transformation capabilities and scenarios – strategy activation, delivery methods, business agility, operating model, org design, M&A, people transition/change/engagement
Experience with efficiency, offshoring, in- and outsourcing, growth, M&A transformations
Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs with multiple partners, competing priorities and challenging deadlines and driving commercial outcomes
Problem solving & critical strategic thinking - using lean, six sigma and systems thinking, Innovation & design thinking, data driven decision making
Consulting Skills - excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to influence a broad range of senior partners/leaders both internally and externally. Adaptability, teamwork, EMI and strong relationship management
Ability to take ownership and deliver results in challenging, client-facing environments
Essential Experience:
It would be essential that you possess a global perspective and understanding of overall strategy work, experience in the energy sector, extensive experience, and consultancy background.
Technical:
Strategy activation - draw strategic insights and shape transformation programmes to set them up for success
Delivery Methods - identifying the appropriate delivery method (waterfall, agile, hybrid)
Business Agility - clear understanding of the 5 domains of the Business Agility Institute framework - Enterprise agility, team agility, lean master, six sigma, CI, lean start up, design thinking, systems thinking
Operating model Diagnostics and Design - how people, process and technology come together in a structured way of working to deliver the strategy
Organisation Design - design of the organization’s structure, accountabilities, roles and responsibilities, interfaces and sizing; organising for agility and to enable end to end value
People Transition, Change and Engagement - high level approach to transfer people from existing organisation to the future organisation
Behavioural:
