About digital
bp has a bold transformation agenda as it seeks to provide secure, affordable, lower carbon energy. Digital lies at the heart of this transformation and bp is looking to recruit digital talent to help solve the most complex problems of the future.
The One Digital early careers programme provides a range of foundational career experiences and a gateway to an exciting and rewarding digital career.
Early careers experience at bp
Our digital apprenticeship programs are 2 years long. During this time, you’ll work on different projects alongside learning day to day operations, to become a rounded professional.
Alongside your formal apprenticeship, you’ll also complete our Elevate training programme which provides a framework of ‘non-technical’ skills to support building personal effectiveness, helping you to grow both personally and professionally.
Throughout the program you’ll have a dedicated support network to provide guidance on the program and advice on career development. You’ll also be a key part of the bp early careers community, with events, socials and the opportunity to network with other early careers from across bp.
Role and responsibilities
Work closely with technology experts that provide bp with critical IT services. You will learn from these experts to build your own capabilities in site/software reliability principles and IT operational support techniques.
Grow your skills through exposure to different service areas and bring these transferable skills to support the business in leveraging the capabilities of our technology solutions.
Help turn our net zero ambitions into reality.
Improve our customer experience.
Contribute to the delivery of services from internal squads and external providers to ensure business performance is in line with agreed Service Level Objectives (SLOs), business outcomes, and levels of risk and resilience.
Ensure operational integrity and operational compliance with appropriate regulatory and internal standards.
Work with DevOps based models as well as traditional outcome-based services and you will develop skills in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to identify and resolve customer pain points, inefficiencies, and blockers to delivery.
Provide tactical advice, training and support on core technology applications (both hardware and software) enabling the delivery of application-based products and services.
Assist with the planning of IT application and infrastructure change projects, implementing, testing and rolling out software and hardware relating to these change projects.
Interact with senior stakeholders directly, both internally and externally, and as part of both the ‘front of house’ external client/customer facing team and the ‘back of house’ internal delivery team alongside, for example, learning and development and business information services colleagues.
Be responsible for their own workload and will be expected to problem solve and prioritise independently. They will deliver a ‘first line fix’ service in many cases to both internal colleagues and external clients and customers. They will maintain ownership of issues (vis-a-vis the internal user/external client) even where elements are escalated to subject matter experts.
