Senior Liquidity Manager

Within FBT, the Group Treasury Operations and Liquidity Management team is leading a change in the way bp views, manages, and optimises short term / mid-term cash and long-term financing by leading liquidity processes and supporting Treasury leadership’s decision-making process.

The Senior Liquidity Manager is a direct contributor to bp’s group treasury & liquidity operations objectives, driving process discipline by ensuring efficient and effective execution of group treasury operations and cash forecasting processes, providing key treasury analytics to bp's management and the Financial Market Trading teams (FMT) who trade an average of $8bn of treasury flows a day.

This role has complete oversight of the group's cash & liquidity management including currency management (short term cash and five-week forecast), supporting the group's financial risk committee, stress testing, local cash forecasting and digital improvements. This role is accountable for managing the consolidated daily cash position and the mid-term liquidity forecast to ensure that the Group can maintain adequate of level of funds and inform the ST&S treasury trading teams to optimize the daily use of funds.

The Senior Liquidity Manager will manage, retain, and develop a team of cash management and forecasting analysts. The role will lead on projects both process and systems oriented, driving solutions, strengthening the core controls framework across the business finance teams who provide forecasts and the Liquidity team and ensuring there is operational robustness in response to all the changes in people, process and systems which are currently ongoing.

In this role You will:

  • Leading a team of liquidity specialists (cash managers and cash forecasters) and partner seamlessly with Treasury senior management to deliver Liquidity risk management while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures to deliver highly time-critical operations and compliance.
  • Manage end-to-end liquidity & cash positioning and forecasting processes (near-term and mid-term), net debt and FX forecasting process.
  • Manage the short term internal funding needs of bp’s businesses as part of the in-house banking framework.
  • Manage quarterly local cash forecasting and proactively engage with responsible contacts to ensure the accuracy of the forecast before the quarter ends.
  • Report on operational KPIs and lead on continuous process improvement opportunities.
  • Leading analytical insight into bp’s cash and currency profiles, working with bp businesses, finance (Tax, M&A, business teams) to ensure the accuracy and integrity of their forecasting numbers.
  • Perform liquidity stress test updates and contribute to GFRC liquidity risk management papers.
  • Own Business Continuity Plans for liquidity and forecasting processes
  • Lead a step-change improvement of processes across all partners through a deliberate and sustained approach to operational excellence.
  • Compile key metrics and use the metrics to identify and act upon performance improvement opportunities.
  • Understand and lead discussions on systems architecture and how it impacts the liquidity team.
  • Take on ad-Hoc project management requests/support agile teams within the wider treasury function
  • Actively participate in cash & banking projects/treasury/accounting and control activities across the globe.
  • Lead and influence the strategic delivery of Group Treasury Operations whilst serving all treasury trading benches and optimizing FBT locations and capabilities.

What You will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or another quantitative background) or equivalent experience may be considered
  • knowledge about wide range business operations and connections of Treasury Operation related IT systems.
  • Strong experience in Corporate Treasury functions with treasury trading
  • experience of in-house banking model and in-house cash pooling models.
  • Experience working with Technology to develop data analytics and automation solutions.
  • Experience in operational process improvement
  • Able to prioritize under pressure and multi-task
  • Development experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau) and data analytics tools (e.g. SSMS SQL, Python, DAX, RegEx, Dataiku)
  • Knowledge of payment standards, mechanisms, and formats (e.g. SWIFT, CAMT, BAI)
  • Strong English language knowledge; other European languages may be an advantage
