Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Writer Lead to spearhead the documentation efforts for our GBS Data Operations. This role will be crucial in ensuring clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of technical information, supporting our data initiatives and encouraging a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

* Lead the development, organization, and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation for GBS Data Operations, including user manuals, process guides, API documentation, data dictionaries, and operational procedures.
* Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, product owners, and other collaborators to gather information, understand technical concepts, and translate complex data processes into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
* Establish and implement documentation standards, guidelines, and style guides to ensure consistency and quality across all technical documentation.
* Develop and implement strategies for effective knowledge management and information dissemination within the GBS Data Operations team and across the wider organization.
* Mentor and guide junior technical writers or team members on standard methodologies in technical communication.
* Conduct research and analysis to identify documentation needs, difficulties, and opportunities for improvement.
* Lead strategic partnerships with internal teams and external vendors to optimize documentation tools and platforms.
* Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks related to data documentation and knowledge gaps.
* Actively engage with partners to capture feedback and continuously improve the effectiveness and utility of technical documentation.

Job Qualifications

* Validated experience as a Technical Writer Lead or Senior Technical Writer, preferably within data operations, data science, or a related technical field.
* Strong understanding of **Agility core practices** and experience working in agile environments.
* Outstanding **Communication** skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Demonstrated **Analytical Thinking** and **Data Analysis** skills to understand and interpret technical data and processes.
* A keen eye for detail and a dedication to accuracy, coupled with **Creativity and Innovation** in communicating information effectively.
* Proficiency in **Digital Fluency**, including experience with documentation tools, content management systems, and collaboration platforms.
* Experience with **Integration** of documentation within broader technical ecosystems.
* Strong **Partner Engagement** and **Customer Management** abilities, with a consistent track record of building and maintaining effective relationships.
* Excellent **Decision Making** skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and prioritise multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
* Familiarity with **Research and insights** methodologies to inform documentation strategies.
* Understanding of **Commercial Competence** and its application to technical documentation within a business context.
* Awareness of **Sustainability awareness and a** desire to integrate balanced practices into documentation where applicable.
* Experience with **Risk Management** pertaining to data governance and documentation.
