BP Technical Solutions India (TSI) center in Pune, aims to build on bp’s existing engineering and technical strengths to deliver high quality services to its hydrocarbons other businesses worldwide. TSI brings together diverse engineering capability to provide technical services across a range of areas including engineering, maintenance, optimization, data processes, projects and subsurface, to deliver safe, affordable energy, while continuously innovating how we work. Our global subsurface solutions team delivers high-quality, high impact, subsurface technical products to address prioritized business challenges across bp’s oil, gas, and low carbon energy businesses. Your early careers program One Engineering is an early careers programme designed to create a pipeline of diverse professional engineers who are high-performers, have broad discipline experience, a transferable skills-set and solving the most complex problems of today and of the future. Early career Subsurface engineers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, develop a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed. Early careers experience at bp Our graduate programs are ~3 years. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to complete 2 rotations designed to give you hands on experience in a real work environment whilst also supporting you to build technical depth. These rotations will be complemented by a technical development pathway for your discipline, which outlines the technical competencies you are working towards. Alongside this you’ll also complete our Elevate programme which will support you to build core and common universal skills, that empower you to strive for excellence, today and in the future. You will also take part in signature engagements- high impact and engaging events that are unique to bp, like bpChallenge. These experiences will help you build your network and offer visibility across the organisation. Throughout the program you’ll have a dedicated support network to provide guidance on the program and advice on career development. You’ll also be a key part of the bp early careers community, with events, socials and the opportunity to network with other early careers from across bp. About the discipline: Mechanical Engineering The Mechanical Discipline plays a critical role in the successful execution of oil and gas projects, spanning Production and Refining assets in bp. This discipline encompasses the design, analysis, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of static, rotating and subsea mechanical equipment essential to hydrocarbon exploration, production, transportation, and processing. At TSI, the mechanical discipline supports: • Asset-specific equipment strategies • Root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) • Condition monitoring and reliability programs • Maintenance and performance optimization • Technology readiness assessments for new equipment Mechanical Discipline is foundational to the bp, ensuring the integrity, safety, and performance of critical systems. With evolving technologies and stricter regulations, the role of mechanical engineering continues to grow in importance for operational excellence and sustainable development. Role and Responsibilities Our Mechanical Engineers play a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our operations. Your specific role will be shaped by your skills and the needs of the business, but your core duties will include: • Ensuring Safe and Reliable Operations: Delivering the integrity of plant operations throughout the asset's lifecycle while maintaining cost-effectiveness. • Maintaining Equipment Integrity: Preventing the release of hydrocarbons and hazardous fluids by upholding the highest standards of mechanical integrity. • Maximizing Uptime: Developing and implementing maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability and performance. • Project Delivery: Participating in projects to ensure they meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements. • Technical Expertise: Providing specialist advice on mechanical engineering, including the adoption of new technologies. • Collaboration: Building strong relationships within bp and with external partners, collaborating across functions, segments, and teams to deliver excellence. • Performance & Safety: Supporting your team in maintaining high performance and demonstrating dedication to safety, aligned with bp's core values. Our mechanical engineers support operations and projects globally, working in diverse teams. They are involved in selecting, specifying, and constructing mechanical equipment and systems, whether to build new facilities or modify existing assets. In operations, they develop and implement maintenance programs, monitor equipment condition and performance, and investigate operational challenges. There are also specialized roles where engineers provide technical expertise, advising on specific aspects of mechanical engineering, including new technologies. They work with a wide range of mechanical equipment, from compressors, pumps, and turbines to heaters, valves, vessels, and piping, covering all aspects of mechanical design.
