BP Technical Solutions India (TSI) centre in Pune, aims to build on bp’s existing engineering and technical strengths to deliver high quality services to its hydrocarbons other businesses worldwide. TSI brings together diverse engineering capability to provide technical services across a range of areas including engineering, maintenance, optimization, data processes, projects and subsurface, to deliver safe, affordable energy, while continuously innovating how we work. Our global subsurface solutions team delivers high-quality, high impact, subsurface technical products to address prioritized business challenges across bp’s oil, gas, and low carbon energy businesses.

Your Early Careers Program

One Engineering is an early careers programme designed to create a pipeline of diverse professional engineers who are high-performers, have broad discipline experience, a transferable skills-set and solving the most complex problems of today and of the future. Early career discipline engineers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, develop a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed.

Early Careers Experience at bp

Our summer internships are 8 weeks. You’ll be based in one team throughout your internship, working on real projects that you’ll be able to manage through to completion. Throughout you’ll have the support of a dedicated line manager and a buddy from one of our early careers programs. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to attend events and socials, take part in training sessions to help develop your interpersonal skills and network with leaders from across bp. The program is designed to help build your skills and technical knowledge whilst also allowing you to learn more about life at bp. This is an assessed internship and may be a potential talent pipeline into graduate opportunities the following year.

About the discipline: Instrument Control & Electrical (ICE) Engineering

ICE is a core engineering discipline within bp and have sub disciplines including

• Operations Critical Telecoms

Role and Responsibilities

Electrical power is a fundamental requirement for all of bp’s businesses. Electrical systems provide light, heat, energy and power for rotating equipment providing the motive power to move products to the marketplace and the power for all related control systems. As an electrical engineer at bp, you will ensure existing production plants remain safe and reliable by effectively using employee resource and equipment to carry out electrical maintenance, repairs and improvements. For new plants, such as renewable wind and solar generation facilities, along with onshore and offshore hydrocarbon process plants, you will model and design all the electrical systems and equipment. Covering power generator through to end-consumers, your hard work will ensure power is produced and utilised in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

Role and Responsibilities

The precise nature of your role will be defined by your skills as well as the needs of the business, but your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Working on projects and supporting your team to find the best solutions in support of the rapid transition to net zero

• Reduction of emissions associated with the carbon in our upstream oil and gas production by 35-40%

• Develop our 2.5 million tonnes per annum hydrogen pipeline

• Construct our 9.6 GW net offshore wind power in pipeline

• Provide 100,000 electric vehicle charging points globally

• Helping to maintain performance within your team and for bp as a company.

• Building relationships both within bp and with our external partners, collaborating across functions, entities and teams to deliver excellence.

• Demonstrating drive and dedication through the bp values with an emphasis on safety.

Requirements

• Be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering
• Maintain a CGPA of min. 7.5
