The Materials Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the materials management process, including planning, storage and handling, using analytical capabilities to assist delivery of performance in material forecasting and inventory management in compliance with the relevant systematic processes, procedures and requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure that all materials management activities follow the accurate HSSE procedures and that all personnel working or visiting the facility utilize the appropriate PPE.
Ensure Level I Risk Assessments are completed daily and forklift checkout sheets completed prior to any lift operations, any unusual lifting or moving operations, or activities which may present a hazardous operations opportunity.
Provide support which aligns with BPs group policy, procedures and best practices and actively share observations or suggestions for improving security and efficiency at storage locations with your supervisor and team.
Maintain security at BP storage buildings and yards.
Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
Safely operate material handling equipment to support the load and unload of materials and equipment.
Physically receive materials, quality inspect materials, validate quantities received with shipping documents and complete goods receipts transactions in the materials management system.
Ensure all orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all vital documentation.
Ensure all materials are received promptly and accurately.
Conduct inventory replenishment and use available data to forecast demand. Suggest adjustments to min/max balances and share insights with stakeholders to optimize inventory levels.
Manage stock control and preservation and participate in regular team reviews to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and propose actions for disposition.
Coordinate outsourcing for repairable materials and track quantities and location.
Stage and kit materials for work orders, and work with operations to anticipate future needs, enabling proactive preparation and minimizing downtime.
Leverage digital inventory management systems and analytics platforms to optimize material flow, forecast demand, and report KPIs. Actively seek opportunities to automate manual tasks and participate in pilot projects for AI-driven process improvements.
Identify obsolete and slow-moving materials, and initiate team discussions to develop strategic disposition plans
Ensure maintenance requirements for material handling equipment is planned and completed as the need arises.
Essential Education
High School Diploma
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
This position follows a 14/14 rotational schedule (14 days on, 14 days off), supporting operational continuity and work-life balance for onshore oil and gas operations
5+ years of first-hand experience in materials management, material control processes, and warehouse functions
Exposure to oil and gas operations and materials used in these operations (production, drilling and completions)
Consistent track recorddedicationment to HSSE (health, safety and environment) Demonstrated cross-functional teamwork to work optimally with others and support a team based working environment
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to safely operate powered materials handling equipment
Experience in SAP, preferred Skilled in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
Work in remote locations with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
