Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Manager – Packaging Procurement. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the procurement function within our organization and driving cost savings through strategic sourcing initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Quality, and Legal, to develop and implement effective category management strategies across multiple commodities. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of procurement principles and best practices. The Procurement Packaging Manager - India has direct responsibility and accountability for the implementation of packaging supply market sector strategies in India to source packaging materials, ensuring business requirements on service, quality, sustainability & cost are fulfilled and overall value optimized techno-commercially.
What you will deliver !
Lead packaging portfolio and sourcing strategy for India, aligned with Castrol’s global procurement framework.
Monitor market trends, raw materials, and commodity movements to manage pricing, identify cost-saving opportunities, and mitigate supply risks.
Analyze market data and supplier proposals to optimize packaging spend and portfolio.
Own and control packaging category spend, ensuring value maximization and sustainable sourcing with required service and quality.
Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality, service, supply security, or sustainability.
Forecast and budget annual spend, supervise variances, and flag risks to COGS.
Negotiate contracts and pricing structures to ensure supply security and value.
Develop and manage contracts in line with local tax policies, labeling compliance, and plastic waste regulations.
Manage supplier relationships, resolve grievances, and conduct performance evaluations for continuous improvement.
Establish supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality, social, and environmental standards.
Ensure procurement activities align with global/local policies and sustainability standards.
Collaborate with global teams (engineering, procurement, marketing, quality, production) to support new product development and packaging innovation.
Lead balanced packaging initiatives, including eco-friendly materials and recycled content, within techno-commercial boundaries.
Support cross-functional teams in resolving packaging issues and managing vendor quality programs under IATF/ISO standards.
Champion sustainability initiatives with internal and external customers; own EPR compliance and reporting as per PWM.
Assess supplier risks including cybersecurity and support incident response if needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years in direct material procurement, preferably in packaging for manufacturing, chemicals, or consumer goods.
Master’s in supply chain/business management; packaging engineering diploma preferred.
Technical Skills :
Key Challenges:
Manage complexity across diverse suppliers and technologies in multi-stakeholder environments.
Balance supplier development with automated plant operations and quality delivery.
Build agile, efficient supply chains for bulk packaging and lubricants using JIT and advanced models.
Translate marketing innovation into local packaging solutions while adhering to global standards.
Stay updated on Indian packaging regulations and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
Planning and Impact:
Act as key interface between marketing and supply chain for NPD and packaging technologies.
Align with global packaging leads and engineers to deliver best-in-class procurement capabilities.
