Our Finance & Risk Graduate Programme

One Finance is our early careers programme designed to create a pipeline of diverse finance professionals who have potential to progress, have broad discipline experience, a transferable skills-set, and are ready to deliver the finance vision. Early careers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, grow a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed. Early careers joining One Finance programme will follow one of these tracks: Core Finance, Procurement and Finance & Risk.

Role and Responsibilities

The Finance & Risk programme supports our Trading & shipping business. Youll follow a 3 year rotational programme that provides hands-on experience working in real roles, to deliver tangible benefits and measurable results.

Role rotations could include:

Operational Excellence

As part of the Operational Excellence team, you will help with managing, setting and promoting new and continuing improvement initiatives, compliant with Operational Risk processes across Trading & shipping.

Commodity Risk

Working in Commodity risk means you must understand, control and constructively challenge trading activity and positions on a near real-time basis within Trading & shipping to ensure it is compliant and aligned to intended trading strategy. Commodity Risk teams are present on each of our trading floors to analyse consistency of risks, results and positions. They provide independent and unbiased daily market exposure.

Credit Risk

bp Trading & shipping must have robust processes in place to monitor, understand and manage its credit risk. Credit risk includes counterparty performance risk, and delivered unpaid credit risk. Credit risk is the potential for financial loss due to the bankruptcy or insolvency of a third party, or due to any other circumstances which result in such third party refusing or otherwise failing to perform its contractual payment or performance obligations to bp.

Development opportunities

The rotational programme will provide you with an invaluable breadth of experience and first-hand exposure to how our functions support our trading activities.

Whilst on the programme, you can expect to develop a range of competencies and skills through on-the-job and formal training.

Requirements

Graduate: To apply for this role, you will need to be in your final year of study and be on track for a 2:1, or have completed your degree with a 2:1.

You are also expected to have strong spoken and written English language skills, including business and technical English. Language skills will be assessed throughout the recruitment process.

This role will be based in Canary Wharf, London.

Please note: Location will depend on business needs and can change for each rotation on your Early Careers development program, as you move between roles. If you are required to relocate during the program, depending on distance, you may be offered relocation assistance.

Reward

Starting Salary: £48,000 per annum + discretionary, performance related, annual bonus.

Sign on Bonus: £5000 (one off payment subject to tax and national insurance)

Holiday Allowance: 28 days + flexible bank holidays (to take at a time that suits you) + two wellbeing / duvet days.

Wellbeing Allowance: Claim up to £1,500 each calendar year (subject to tax and national insurance) for products and services that contribute to physical, mental, financial and social wellbeing

Flexible Benefits: In addition to your base salary, you’ll receive a flexible allowance (currently 20% of your base salary) that you can take as cash or use to buy a range of extra benefits, such as a pension, critical illness, dental care, personal accident and travel insurance, and our cycle to work scheme.

Private Medical Insurance: We’ll pay for private healthcare, and you only pay an income tax charge.

BP Share Plans: You can choose to take part in our share plan and buy bp shares every month.
