Our internships
Our summer internships are 11 weeks. You’ll be based in one team throughout your internship, working on real projects that you’ll be able to manage through to completion. Throughout you’ll have the support of a dedicated line manager and a buddy from one of our early careers programs. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to attend events and socials with other interns, take part in training sessions to help develop your interpersonal skills and network with leaders from across bp. The program is designed to help build your skills and technical knowledge whilst also allowing you to learn more about life at bp.
Role and Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities across Intelligence, Security & Crisis Management (ISC) are varied, and the precise nature of your role will be defined by your skills as well as the needs of the business. Some of these responsibilities might include:
- Working on projects and supporting your team to find the best solution
- Liaising with our bp customers and supporting their needs
- Building relationships with our bp customers, and collaborating across functions, segments and teams to deliver excellence
- Helping to maintain performance within your team and for bp as a company
During your time with us, you will be assigned to one of the Intelligent, Security & Crisis Management (ISC) areas:
Intelligence & International Advisory
The Intelligence and International Advisory (I&IA) team directly supports the company’s view of geopolitics, commercial dynamics and security threats through intelligence and political risk management. In this team, the graduate may be exposed to political risk management, international security affairs and geopolitical intelligence, and commercially focused intelligence to support deal planning.
Security
The Security team provides a consistent and rigorous security risk management methodology to improve security barrier strength and reduce risk across the organisation, safeguarding bp staff and assets. In this team, the graduate may be exposed to security risk management, the development of security plans, and be part of technical security projects.
Crisis and Continuity Management
The Crisis and Continuity Management (C&CM) team provides technical expertise for bp to ensure the organisation has the capability to respond to emergencies and crisis events, and can then recover. In this team, the graduate may be exposed to crisis planning across a range of technical areas, business continuity management, and response exercises.
Requirements
To apply for this role, you must be in your penultimate year of study (those going onto a Master’s and PhD students can apply), and be on track for a 2:1.
You are also expected to have strong spoken and written English language skills, including business and technical English. Language skills will be assessed throughout the recruitment process.

Please note: Our internships are full-time. If you will struggle to be available for these dates &/or may not be able to work full time, please flag this if you are invited to a technical interview, or earlier if possible.
