Job Description:

About the Role
Castrol Smart Monitor (CSM) is our cutting-edge solution that combines IoT sensors, AWS IoT, software engineering, and data engineering to deliver near real-time insights into lubricant health. By detecting early signs of contamination (e.g. water ingress) and degradation, CSM enables our marine and industrial customers to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and improve safety.

As a Senior Enterprise Technology Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping, delivering, and scaling CSM as part of Castrol’s digital transformation journey. You will collaborate across IoT engineering, cloud platforms, data science, and customer-facing teams to ensure our solutions are robust, reliable, and impactful for customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale IoT and cloud-based solutions for lubricant condition monitoring.
  • Lead the integration of IoT sensor data into AWS IoT and downstream data platforms, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable ingestion pipelines.
  • Partner with software engineers and data engineers to deliver actionable insights from near real-time condition monitoring data.
  • Collaborate with product managers, marine & industrial domain experts, and customer teams to translate operational needs into technical requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and compliance standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies in IoT, data engineering, and AI/ML to enhance the CSM platform.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise technology roles, ideally across IoT, cloud engineering, or software/data engineering.
  • Strong expertise in AWS IoT Core, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, and related services.
  • Proven experience integrating IoT hardware with cloud platforms and data pipelines.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Python for IoT and cloud application development. Hands-on knowledge on Node.js, or Java is an added advantage.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering workflows, including real-time streaming, analytics, and API integration.
  • Familiarity with industrial or marine operational technology (OT), condition monitoring, or predictive maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business functions.
