As a Lead ServiceNow Architect, you form part of the Digital System of Work (DSOW) team, building resilient and efficient digital ops through robust service management, data integrity, and operational data governance products. You will work with internal customers to understand their requirements, provide recommendations and deliver solutions. You will provide critical architectural guidance to product owners and business stakeholders to help inform and shape delivery priorities.
You will use your ServiceNow experience to design and deliver the solutions that underpin our Digital systems of work. You will be joining a collaborative team dedicated to leveraging the Now Platform to drive efficiency, automation, and exceptional user experiences across the enterprise.
Let me tell you about the role
The Lead ServiceNow Enterprise Architect is responsible for designing and delivering solutions that support our Digital System of Work (DSOW) capabilities.
This individual is responsible for defining the strategic vision and technical roadmap for how ServiceNow enables ITSM, IT Asset Management (SAM/HAM/ITAM), Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) and Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).
They will ensure all solutions are designed for long-term scalability, maintainability, and alignment with our enterprise goals, transforming complex business requirements into well-architected solutions that deliver maximum value. You smartly prioritise delivery to meet the needs of multiple internal customers.
What you will deliver
- Architecture: You rigorously develop enterprise and solution architectures and roadmaps, seeking practical solutions that optimise and re-use capabilities. You will care passionately about the integrity of the digital products you create. You will be responsible for designing and building solutions that best meet the business needs and align with the digital strategy and roadmaps. Ability to relate complex topics in simple and accessible language at all levels of the organisation.
Champion the platform's capabilities across the organisation, articulating the "art of the possible" to business stakeholders to drive adoption and support our digital transformation journey. Produce high-quality architectural diagrams, design documents, and strategic presentations for both technical and executive audiences.
- Technology: As a technologist, you will have an eye for emerging technologies and standards and have a passion for learning. You will contribute to digital transformation initiatives from an architectural perspective, facilitating the delivery of solutions. You will bring good hands-on skills in key technologies and rapidly assess new technologies with a commercial mindset.
- Platform Governance: Establish and chair a Technical Governance Board to define and enforce standards for development, integrations, data, and security. You will be responsible for managing the platform's technical debt and ensuring its long-term health and upgradeability.
Provide strategic advice on ServiceNow licensing to ensure solutions are designed to maximise value and control costs, aligning platform capabilities with enterprise investment.
- Safety and Compliance: The safety of our people and customers is our highest priority. You will advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs, and processes enhance operational safety culture and improve our digital security. You create an environment where people listen and speak openly about the good, the bad, and the ugly so that everyone can understand and learn.
- Team: You will play an integral role in elevating the team's skillset by acting as a senior technical mentor, guiding developers and administrators to follow architectural best practices. You will not just lead, but "do", for example, creating proof-of-concepts and mentoring developers.
- Relationships: You will build strong relationships across the business and digital teams. You will understand the long-term needs of the business and ensure the solutions you are developing enable delivery by building a rapport with team members inside and outside BP.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
Technical skills we need from you
- A Bachelor's (or higher) degree, ideally in technology/Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3-5 years with real-world experience of architecting, designing, and governing transformational enterprise-wide initiatives. You love envisaging the art of the possible and making that a reality.
- 10+ years in the IT industry, with at least 7 years of dedicated, hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated expert-level knowledge of the core ServiceNow platform architecture
- Practical expertise in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) is essential to support our service enablement and data management goals.
- Deep-seated functional knowledge of the Now platform in the following areas
- ITSM
- ITAM
- SPM
- GRC
- Proven experience designing complex integrations to support a cohesive ecosystem, leveraging integration techniques, e.g. EVENT/REST/SOAP APIs, and modern data patterns.
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
Skills that set you apart
- ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA)
- Experience in leveraging ML and AI in a NOW environment
- AWS / Azure certifications or other similar credentials
- Architecture-related certifications, e.g. SABSA / TOGAF
