The Payment Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction of our payment processor(s) and all proprietary payment products including the bp’s consumer card (bp Rewards Visa) and gift cards.

Consumer Card – This role will be responsible for developing, recommending & executing strategies to generate sustainable, profitable portfolio growth across our largest and most profitable program. This role will also contribute to the overall goals of bp’s consumer experience team by helping to generate seamless experiences and personalized offers that link across bp’s membership programs. This may include the recommendation of new proprietary payment solutions & features that link to bp’s loyalty program and mobile application.

Utilizing a strong marketing background, the Payment Manager will work to generate insights that lead to unique new ideas that can help propel bp’s loyalty, and payments forward with B2B audiences. This role will also require well-developed influencing skills, strong financial acumen and the ability to think innovatively about how to improve the consumer experience by leveraging the digital world.

Accountabilities:

  • Set and support the execution of consumer acquisition and engagement strategies to drive higher active membership and generate incremental spend from active cardholders with the help of our card issuer.
  • Monitor and manage commercial performance for programs including management of program P&Ls and cash cost budgets to agreed KPIs.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting and oversee the consumer card program P&L and success metrics to agreed upon KPI’s including acquisition, active member spend, volume & RCOP targets.
  • Act as the main point of contact with BP’s issuing bank, issuing network for the consumer program(s).
  • Act as the main point of contact with bp’s payment processor.
  • Act as the main point of contact with bp’s payment network partners.
  • Act as the main point of contact with bp’s gift card issuers.
  • Expert on trends in the consumer credit card industry.
  • Partner with peers in marketing communications to ensure program information and requirements are positioned in a strong and timely manner with customers and consumers.
  • Partner with sales and market execution team to ensure appropriate sales enablement activities so that sales team can best leverage programs with customers. Provide direct support where appropriate with customers to drive program and relationship goals.
  • Ensure excellence in program development and execution through partnering with relevant stakeholders to ensure the right inputs drive programs. Including but not limited to insights, sales, marketing communications, operations, IT&S, finance, legal, procurement
  • Disseminate key information to the wider sales and marketing organization.

Essential to the Role

  • Proven capability to translate customer/consumer insights into commercially viable marketing programs that meet target consumer needs
  • Payment industry background
  • Experience designing and implementing new products/services, preferably in digital/mobile channels
  • Be a self-starter able to identify improvements, make critical decisions and work with internal & external subject matter experts to implement changes.
  • Ability to communicate and influence across multiple levels, local & global partners to gain alignment on product plans
  • Financial acumen, financial modelling & P&L management skills

Other relevant or desirable experience

  • Ability to generate and apply insights to develop a consumer proposition
  • Experience working with mobile applications/emerging technology
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding and passion of loyalty marketing & payment technologies
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in using Azure DevOps, or other software development planning tools

Background

  • Type of degree – BA Required, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant business experience
  • Strong business background with a focus on sales and marketing experience.
  • Prior experience with consumer loyalty and or payment programs, preferred
  • Demonstrated record of delivery on value adding projects and programs.
  • Working knowledge of retail operations.
  • Conveys information fluently, interprets and clarifies details, and explains rationale.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge.
  • Travel (15%)

How much do we pay (Base)? $101,000-$187,000

*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for US Benefits – Select. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120-240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60-240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
