Role Synopsis
The Analytics and Insights team work collaboratively with the technology-procurement and FBT-procurement teams to transform data analytics and are a dedicated subject matter authority group within the finance-procurement Strategy and Sustainability team. At the intersection of technology and strategy they run a data-led approach to procurement. By providing precise data, advanced analytics, and actionable insights, the team empowers organizations to make informed decisions that propel efficiency, sustainability, and growth.

The Discipline Advisor works within a procurement related subject area in Technology – Procurement. This role designs and delivers data-centric strategies and supports the refining of the Procurement Information Model and elevating the analytics of the Procurement Control Tower. This role will deliver market intelligence to teams to feed data driven decision-making and ensure teams are equipped with comprehensive, real-time insights.
Enables the organization to unlock new levels of efficiency and effectiveness, using robust data to deliver on procurement objectives and metrics. By shaping and completing strategic plans utilising industry standard processes, the Advisor ensures that analytics-driven procurement becomes an intrinsic part of the organizational fabric. This role also champions the best processes in digital and data stewardship to proactively handle data integrity related risks.
As a skilled influencer and storyteller, they will paint a clear and compelling vision of a future shaped by digital innovation. They guide the organization along the change journey, securing consensus and fostering a culture that embraces analytics-led decision-making. Their expertise in project and organisational change enables them to coordinate discipline-related initiatives across business units and represent procurement in forums and at relevant industry events.
The Digital Advisor excels in leading projects, engaging with analytics initiatives across supported businesses and the organization. The individual will have strong technical capabilities to deliver high-quality digital analytics solutions effectively. When faced with challenges, they develop innovative approaches within their subject area. Their role ensures analytics standard processes are embedded throughout project activities.
Key Accountabilities
Strategy delivery:
- Designs and implements data-centric strategies to advance and drive progress across procurement and related business areas.
- Be responsible for projects that elevate the quality of analytics practice throughout technology and procurement, promoting the adoption of standard processes.
- Aligns individual projects with broader procurement objectives, ensuring that activities complement and reinforce strategic goals.
- Engages with relevant teams and partners across bp to maintain alignment between project initiatives and the wider organizational strategy.
- Develops deep expertise in digital analytics, serving as the principal advisor for projects within technology–procurement and, when appropriate, across bp.
- Incorporates industry standard methodologies into project delivery, bringing to bear external findings and continuously refining approaches to analytics.
- Actively represents bp in external forums and industry groups within the analytics subject area.

- Confirmed skill in resolving complex analytics and market intelligence issues with practical, business-aligned solutions.
- Solid understanding of procurement analytics policies, procedures, processes, and systems.
- Experience in category management analytics, spend and sourcing analysis, contract performance monitoring, and market intelligence tools is an asset.
- Proficient in sophisticated analytics technologies, such as data visualization, predictive modeling, reporting, and market intelligence platforms.
- Confident in applying and communicating standard processes in analytics and data-driven decision-making.
- Capable of writing clear, concise policies, procedures, and guides.
Essential Education:
- Technical Degree or Procurement related degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Post graduate qualification related to procurement desirable

- Must be a knowledgeable analytics professional with procurement expertise, and have the ability to drive strategy and partner engagement through data-driven processes.
- Good knowledge in procurement strategy, objectives, metrics, and category management policy
- Ability to understand and apply advanced analytics and market intelligence to deliver focused insights.
- Experienced in project management, aligning plans with strategic goals and ensuring effective execution.
- Strong collaborator and SME, representing analytics at external events and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
