The FBT procurement organisation aspires to be a world-class, business centric Procurement organization, working to support delivery of BP business and functional strategies with efficiency, effectiveness and a great stakeholder experience. FBT Procurement is changing to be more aligned to the delivery of BP’s transformation agenda and key business drivers in the short, medium and long term.
In this role You will:
- Support for our key stakeholders in the most effective way to drive greater value for BP
- Drive an agile and innovative approach to supply market engagement Enable speed to market for the Digital & Talent categories
- Champion advanced and innovative category processes, techniques and strategies
- Collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers, sourcing and category leads to maximise value delivery and risk mitigation
- Driving category excellence through deploying standard methodologies, providing a consistent experience, utilization of strong market intelligence and category expertise that delivers significant value for the business and where applicable enables the business to buy quickly, easily & where it makes sense, independently
- Effectively lead the Supplier Management, Category Strategy Support, Category Intelligence and Category Enablement teams.
- Ensuring compliance to FBT Procurement controls and contract template structures
- Where appropriate, management of a team of category delivery experts, balancing workload, career development and team mentorship
- Coach members of the team on developing category strategy, innovation, lessons learnt and knowledge share, inspires changes to enhance the procurement process
- Ensuring alignment with category, sourcing and business teams.
- Ensuring a consistent and efficient process is maintained through the effective use of tools and systems
- Reporting team effectiveness through key metrics, including value delivery to the Senior Sourcing Manager – Digital, Talent & FBT Category
Essential Education:
- An undergraduate degree (ideally in procurement or business) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years professional experience in procurement and strategic category/sourcing positions required
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
Category delivery in Digital & Talant Categories:
- Delivers category performance globally that meet or exceeds relevant metrics, including those for safety and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to use strategic and analytical thinking to solve sophisticated situations.
- Commercial Savvy
- Delivers global, regional or local needs whilst also aligning to category plans
- Consolidates demand plans for the business, working with their wider category team to ensure category plans are aligned. Understands the relevant commercial landscape and market factors.
- Undertakes supplier performance management or interventions, calling out to the relevant business partners, as needed, to ensure timely resolution and prevent leakage.
- Advocates for opportunities to partner, collaborate, develop, and strengthen relationships with our contractors and suppliers
- Unlocks value in line with category management policy
Team integration:
- Collaborates across procurement (including FBT procurement), with the business and, where appropriate, with suppliers to create a ‘one team’ mentality
- Builds knowledge across their category delivery team to ensure delivery of their objectives
- Develops their technical capabilities and accelerator skills
- Embraces psychological safety, and bp values, as a foundation for collaborative learning, conceptualization and innovation
- Follows bp's Code of Conduct (CoC), policies and procedures to ensure compliance, role models bp’s ‘Who We Are’ expectations
Supplier & Stakeholder Management:
- Influences through complexity and ambiguity, managing virtual relationships with stakeholders in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments
- Builds good relationships, bringing market insights and championing supplier value whilst taking time to understand business needs.
- Builds relationships with the procurement teams globally, understanding feedback and proactively working to build procurements reputation and return on investment
- Maintains close connectivity with category clusters and FBT, ensuring appropriate prioritization and resourcing
Transformation and Change Management:
- Employs digital solutions to drive innovation, enhancing efficiency, effectiveness and value creation
- Partners with other internal procurement teams to drive category excellence
- Use influencing, storytelling and communication to encourage adoption
- Delivers modernization & transformation activities, leading optimization of regional procurement category delivery aligned to the broader procurement and business transformation agendas
Other Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Functional knowledge:
- Adept at developing and maintaining business context including an understanding of strategic direction, priorities.
- Knowledge of category management principles
- An understanding of how to ensure strategies flow through to execution
- Ability to develop a quick understanding of business objectives and harmonize it with category strategies
Business expertise:
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills in order to develop a deep understanding of the supported businesses / regions / assets and their priorities, including long term objectives.
- Critical thinking and commercial savvy
- An understanding of working in and navigating sophisticated multi-national businesses
- Track record in collaborating with businesses / partners to deliver continuous improvement
Leadership:
- Experience in leading teams internationally, recognizing cultural nuances and employing agile/flexible approaches
- Team leadership and management experience

- The role requires the ability to partner with the business to develop innovative solutions, clearing blockers and enabling delivery. It also requires judgement to translate business requirements into a demand plan.

- Brings multiple parties (procurement, business, suppliers) together to collaboratively address sophisticated problems
- Handles conflict to successful resolution while being a great partner with key stakeholders

- Good judgement - ability to translate business requirements into a strategic delivery plan, aligned with the category strategy, to inform strategic decisions
- Interpersonal skills:
- The role demands strong communication skills.
- Strong senior stakeholder networking and influencing skills to ensure agreement and adoption, building a reputation as a strategic partner to the regions / sites / assets
- Experience in regular interaction with external suppliers and representing bp externally
- Effective change management is key, requiring good influencing, engagement and storytelling abilities
Desirable Criteria:
- International experience
- Experience in leading procurement teams and complex activities
- MBA or Equivalent Masters level degree in relevant field
- CIPS or other relevant certification in Supply Chain Management
