Job Description:

The Engineering and Quality Team Lead plays a key part in the EV roll out and ongoing efficient operations through oversight and verification of the standardized engineering solutions by our design and construction Contractors. The role will also provide front line technical query support to the installation contractors to support timely quality and schedule delivery, managing a team of dedicated discipline engineers. The role will support the ongoing and growing operating based with deep technical support interfacing with their peers in the Hardware team to ensure quick and efficient problem solving and solution provision.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure delivery of Engineering and Quality strategy and execution of bp pulse technical standards.
  • Ensure rollout and compliance of Operating Management System (OMS) throughout project design, execution and Operations.
  • Actively identify and mitigate risks, supporting the full project lifecycle from site appraisal to commissioning.
  • Collaborate with regional team on network planning, procurement, installation, and commissioning to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor engineering and quality performance and report progress against long-term targets, driving efficiency and safety in project execution.
  • Foster strong relationships with execution teams and support Project Managers to deliver projects on time, within budget, and risk-free.
  • Capture Lessons Learned and drive Continuous Improvement throughout EV deployments and operational learnings
  • Manage and provide technical direction for bp staff and the Contractor Engineering team, overseeing performance and career development.
  • Own and roll out standardization of technical drawings
  • Provides direction and leadership to North America Engineering team of SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to provide technical input to the bp pulse Execution organization, new business, future products and to support the Execution team’s delivery.
  • Lead the process to review Engineering work products provided by Contractors
  • Lead team development and team structure development according to global execution plans
  • Support Execution team in the follow-up and control of Contractors Engineering scopes.
  • Support Procurement team for new Contractor's definition of requirements and Offers evaluation
  • Focused on all technical and business aspects to prevent distraction of the Execution team to deliver the annual charge point installation plan.
  • Filters, facilitates and leads activities to support engineering related topics.
  • Lead engineering team of subject matter experts to ensure that all underlining technical or engineering items of projects are well covered, safe, well-engineered according to North America team guidelines
  • Assure awareness and compliance along the team of the bp pulse standards, tools and processes to ensure projects are safe, compliant and support the global strategy.
  • Provide expert service during procurement phases of projects by supporting the procurement and legal teams with optimum specifications, clear boundaries in terms of technical and engineering items and identifying risks.
  • Support the operations team with network performance enhancements, monitoring and ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the execution manager and other areas of the business as required.
  • Develop procedures / templates as required to cover specific North America needs.
  • Reporting and attendance to management / follow up meetings as required
  • Assure proper support to construction / operations activities
  • Support local (North America) appraisal, customer and business opportunity activities in accordance with global appraisal team.

EDUCATION: University degree in engineering (Electrotechnical preferred)

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of experience in large scale engineering projects
  • A strong track record in project delivery or in supporting complex Project management involving installations across hydrocarbon forecourts, industrial and public installations
  • Experience of performance management of engineering complex projects.
  • Experience of supervising work delivered though EPC contractors
  • Extensive major project experience with strong design engineering/procurement background
  • Extensive experience delivering HSSE performance.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Strong planning and organizing ability
  • Good understanding of business drivers and the ability to align design philosophies

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Professional Engineer or equivalent (working towards with imminent application would be considered)
  • Experience leading multi-cultural teams
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate engineering on projects covering different countries and use cases
  • Broad professional experience in engineering and project management delivery.
  • Sound knowledge of EV charging technology and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of charging networks and how they are integrated.
  • Direct experience of industry standards in the EV space.
  • Agile Project management.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees).
