Job Description:

This Senior Reservoir Engineering position supports one of the main Gulf of America’s (GoA) producing fields. This position requires an applicant who shows strong technical skills and judgement, with a focused skill set in simulation. In addition, it is expected that the person will demonstrate key leadership skills such as influencing, collaboration, and effective communication. The applicant will be part of an integrated team, that focuses on maximizing an asset’s recovery.

The Sr. Reservoir Engineer will have a significant impact in shaping the forward direction of the asset and will be tasked with building and using simulation models to support business decisions on major projects, infill wells, reservoir management and forecasting. This work will enable the successful candidate to gain in-depth exposure to one of the most active and valuable regions in the bp portfolio.

Key Accountabilities & Essential Experience

  • Lead in building, updating and coaching others to use reservoir simulation models and ensembles in collaboration with geoscientists, geomodellers, petrophysicists and petroleum engineers in the asset.
  • Steward of asset’s simulation model & ensembles
  • Experience with RE simulation toolkit [NA1] (e.g. PETEX IPM, Nexus (or others), TDRM/Fortuna, Bifrost, scripting)
  • Understand and keep the business context and geological realities in mind throughout the modelling process
  • Understand the asset’s reservoir engineering needs and translate those into building the most appropriate tools
  • Review and ensure appropriateness of both static and dynamic inputs throughout the modelling efforts.
  • Proficiency in reservoir management and development practices including classical reservoir engineering techniques, field development planning and reservoir surveillance.
  • Uncertainty quantification and risk analysis with strong data integration skills to inform business decisions
  • Skillful communication and influencing skills
  • Track record of sharing learnings across multidisciplinary teams and building capability in others
  • Able to manage multiple activities and quickly respond to changing business priorities
  • Able to cope with short-term deadlines and flexible prioritization.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering subject area.

Essential Qualification:

  • Minimum of 12 years reservoir engineering experience
  • Experience in 4D assisted history matching

Desirable criteria & qualifications

  • At least 5 years deepwater experience
