We are currently looking for Driving Safety Advisor based at Pune with details mentioned below.
Let me tell you about the role!
You will be the Castrol global specialist delivering leadership and strategic direction for safe, compliant and reliable activities associated with Driving safety and providing assurance on conformance to bp group.
Support the Global Subject Matter Expert (SME) and drive effective implementation of the (operating Management System) OMS sub element 3.7 Transportation (Road Safety and Powered Mobile Equipment).
You will facilitate the Castrol road safety leadership (SMART Champion) network chaired by a Castrol LT member and represented by PU’s LT members, working closely with driving safety community to drive the agenda and consistency of driving safety risk control and continuous risk reduction.
What you will deliver
- Act as administrator and coordinator of the Castrol SMART Champion Network to ensure the effectiveness of the network.
- Support focal point to prepare materials of driving safety topics for Global SMART Champion with inputs from PUs
- Design global SMART initiatives, i.e., SMART campaign & recognition, good practice & lessons learnt promotion
- Maintain the driving safety data including DSQ, IRIS, eVerify and SMART App, and provide reports for PU’s to support design and decision of driving safety programmes.
- Collect and analyse the regional or country special driving safety practices and programmes to promote good driving safety practice in the whole Castrol.
- Serve as an administrator for the SMART App.
- Support the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for (operating Management System) OMS sub element (SE) 3.7 Transportation (Road Safety and Powered Mobile Equipment)
- Develop clear, understandable and deliverable OMS Castrol minimum expectations.
- Provide expertise to support PUs/Functions to effectively meet regulatory, legislative and BP requirements wherever we operate.
- Support implementation of global performance standards for OMS SEs and support PUs and Functions to meet HSE&C performance targets and delivery of OMS conformance.
- Verifies compliance with relevant OMS SEs, Group Essentials and BP GDPs.
- Intervene and advance as appropriate to cause corrective action when HSE performance and/or OMS conformance is not at desired levels.
- Contributes to the delivery of the global HSE&C strategy, policies and programs
- Support for risk assessments, coaching and driving competency development.
- Provides assurance of safe transportation, aligned with bp sustainability aims.
- Ensuring all risk barrier actions are captured in risk assurance tool and managed to successful conclusion.
- Supports emergency response, incident investigation and reporting, on transportation related incidents.
- Support delivery of the OMS Performance Improvement Cycle (PIC) and support leaders on implementation of action plans to achieve and maintain OMS conformance.
- Support consistency with global performance standards for OMS SEs, providing guidance within Castrol as to “what good looks like” and maintaining relevant content in Castrol OMS ONLINE.
- Supports capability of roles within Castrol, including the development and delivery of relevant OMS training, interventions and materials.
- Identifies and shares best practices and findings across Castrol, influencing PUs and functions to ensure consistency.
- Use the 5-step organizational learning process to manage opportunities to learn.
- Provides input to deviation requests from the Castrol local operating management system (LOMS).
- Support the development and maintenance of the designated OMS SE risk barriers, self-verification protocols and processes
- Support the development and maintenance of the specific plans, policies, processes, systems and tools to enable appropriate implementation in Castrol
- Analyses trend, provides feedback and creates proactive action plans based on self-verification, audits, incidents, observations, leading and lagging metrics etc.
- Monitors OMS conformance (for designated SE) assists with compliance to Castrol LOMS, BP GDPs, and Castrol policies/procedures and supports closure of actions.
- Understands the clauses in the Castrol’s external standards (e.g. ISO9001 / ISO14001 / ISO45001 / IATF16949, etc.) relating to their SE and enables Castrol and its sites to conform with these standards.
What will make you successful
- University degree (or equivalent work experience), preferably in a technical field. Formal health, safety, environmental or sustainability qualification (e.g. NEBOSH diploma) or graduate degree desirable
- Proven experience in health, safety, environmental or sustainability, or operational roles with substantial relevant accountabilities; transportation (including powered mobile equipment) and contractor management activities.
- Deep knowledge on health, safety, environmental or sustainability management systems within an international brand marketing business environment, including knowledge of the external competitive environment.
- Strong experience in global stakeholder management, collaborating with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across geographies.
- Proven track record of initiating and implementing innovative safety awareness campaigns with measurable impact
- Proven ability to think both operationally and strategically.
- Digital tool experience and competent use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Power BI, Power Apps, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) and ability to navigate different platforms desirable.
- Ability to translate technical knowledge into pragmatic fit for purpose advice, support and coaching.
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence
- Strong written and spoken communication skills and fluent in English
- Skilled in developing communication materials and presentations that engage diverse audiences and drive safety culture.
- Uses a range of styles to influence and gain enrolment in a variety of situations.
- Agile and adaptable mindset
- Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal, communication (oral and written), leadership and team-working skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, self-starter.

Global HSE&C, bp & Castrol subject matter experts (SMEs), Regional Performance Units HSE&C, local business, manufacturing sites HSE&C teams and SMART champion network.
