What to expect

Our five-day paid work experience programme is a hands-on and transformative learning experience. It is designed to help you to identify your strengths, adapt to change, discover your personal brand, enhance your communication skills, and collaborate as a team.

During your time on the programme, you will have the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, hear from a range of bp employees sharing their experience, and both find and use your voice in a professional environment.

You will also gain an understanding of how your skills and interests can be used in a career at bp, hear about our early careers programmes, including hints and tips for success through the recruitment process.

If you are successful through your application to this programme, you will progress straight to online interview for one of our Apprenticeship Programmes (subject to meeting requirements; example programmes can be found here)

Eligibility

This programme is open to those who wish to pursue an apprenticeship at bp in 2026, in any discipline and are from a lower socio-economic background.

You must have:

  • Been eligible for UK Government funded Free School Meals

Or meet both of these criteria:

  • You attended a UK state school or college AND

  • The occupation of the main household earner when you were aged 14 was one of the following:

  • Technical and craft occupations such as: motor mechanic, plumber, printer, electrician, gardener, train driver

  • Routine, semi-routine manual and service occupations such as: postal worker, machine operative, security guard, caretaker, farm worker, catering assistant, sales assistant, HGV driver, cleaner, porter, packer, labourer, waiter/waitress, bar staff.

  • Long-term unemployed (claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance or earlier unemployment benefit for more than a year).

In addition you must:

  • Hold a valid passport/birth certificate/residence permit, NI number and

  • Achieved a grade 4 (C) in GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)

This opportunity will take place at the following UK offices:

bp Sunbury - ICBT (International Centre for Business & Technology), Chertsey Road, Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex, TW16 7LN

Start & end dates

Monday 27 October – Friday 31 October 2025

Times: 10am – 3pm each day.

You will be expected to commit to attending the full week in person.

Salary

This experience is paid at the real living wage, which currently equates to £13.85 per hour for London.
