Overview:

The Senior Manager – Engineering and Projects is a part of Site Leadership
The incumbent provides support to Plant Manager by leading all engineering, maintenance and project activities in the plant.

The role holder has to lead a team of engineers of various disciplines in planning, organizing and controlling the projects and engineering related activities within the plant. The role holder is responsible for managing maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment’s, in house projects & manufacturing agenda for the site.

About the role!

  • To plan, schedule, implement, supervise and review maintenance of manufacturing assets to ensure reliability and availability of production assets at levels over 95%.
  • To innovate and drive energy initiatives at plant for energy savings and to reduce cost.
  • Handling and maintaining critical equipment “fit for purpose” by complying to integrity management for plant assets,
  • Implementation of engineering procedures to ensure full compliance to the BP Group Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Lead and drive Lean Manufacturing projects of the plant, one of the critical initiatives of BP/Castrol.
  • Formulate and acquire approval for the maintenance budget for conducting Maintenance activities,
  • Review, supervise and control the annual budget expenditures to agreed budget.
  • Forecast requirements and arrange for replenishment of spares to ensure adequate spares' availability, whilst keeping the inventory to an optimum level
  • Train and refresh the engineering skills of engineering technicians to equip them for autonomous maintenance,
  • To ensure compliance to statutory obligations in the impact area,
  • Assess need for up gradation and implement new projects/minor projects to meet business
  • requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements for plant.
  • Responsible for HSSE in Engineering (both people and equipment) activities and compliance to BP/Castrol HSSE standards.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Act as BP Contract Accountable to ensure safe execution of the contracted work while applying the Working with Contractor process throughout for the contract period.
  • Act as Risk Owner for risk events as assigned in the facility risk register with accountabilities including accurate documentation and assessment of the risk event, consulting with domain experts as appropriate, assign action owners to risk reduction measures, monitoring and self-verification closure with efficiency and communication of the importance to the workforce that may be affected.
  • Ensure that all procedures falling under the ownership of this role are maintained and reviewed on the agreed frequency, kept up-to-date, and changes detailed and reflected in OMS ONLINE as appropriate. Communicate any changes to the procedures that may impact understanding to the affected workforce.
  • Act as project manager for develop & construction projects, and in ongoing facility operation, acting project manager to ensure operation of assets within safe operating and safe develop limits, and ensuring inspection and maintenance of facility assets to meet all applicable BP Group Defined
  • Practices and BP Operating Management System requirements.
  • Act as task owner for applicable compliance tasks assigned. Ensure timely and appropriate completion of tasks, consistent with operational controls, and record these as complete in the compliance task management system.
  • Act as response team member for crisis / continuity management, with accountabilities consistent with relevant response plans and as assigned by the response team leader.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Should be an Engineer with at least 10-12 years of experience in Manufacturing/FMCG Organization.
  • At least 10-12 years’ experience in engineering and maintenance activities in plants preferable supply chain areas.
  • Good knowledge of project management, planning, co-ordination, negotiations with sound commercial judgment and should be able to work well under pressure and with competing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge on statutory requirements like factories act, petroleum rules, electricity acts and rules.
  • Basic knowledge in electrical and instrumentation functions
  • This position requires good people management skills and should be able to lead a team – along with a battery of contractors.
  • Experience in communicating and interfacing with all levels of the organization and external agencies/ contacts including statutory bodies
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple activities concurrently
  • Computer literate - Expert knowledge of MS Project/Visio, MS Office specifically Excel.
  • Ability to use and take full advantage of appropriate tools in particular.
  • Knowledge of JDE would be an advantage.
