About the role
The EC&I (Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation) Engineer will help to define and implement the right strategy, identify relevant standards, and ensure compliance with legislation and corporate standards, to help meet the safety objectives of the UK and French terminals in terms of Power, Control and Safety Instrumented Systems.
The role will be nominally based in our main offices in Sunbury but will require frequent travel / time spent in each of our terminal sites in the UK and France.
What you will deliver
Implement asset strategies and technical requirements for all Electrical Power, Control and Safety Instrumented Systems including but not limited to HV & LV distribution systems & associated equipment, Motors, plant control philosophies, systems, equipment and field instrumentation, Safety Instrumented systems and associated Functional Safety Management Systems
Develop, manage and control the inspection and testing of Power distribution systems and Electrical equipment including ATEX
Ensure the maintenance of adequate records (including Electrical drawings) and work histories for major items of plant, equipment and systems
Accountable for reviewing and approving inspection reports declaring assets fit for service or otherwise based upon inspection and condition reports
Ensure Functional Safety Assessments and the adequate maintenance of all Function Safety Management Systems in accordance with BP and industry standards whichever are more onerous.
Share and implement industry engineering best practice and changes in statutory engineering requirements.
Provide technical advice and project engineering support for the terminals, terminal manager and Maintenance teams on all aspects of EC&I engineering matters
Act as the Technical lead giving assurance to S&OR Engineering Authority that relevant ETP’s / STP’s have been complied with.
Act as focal point for regulator enquiries regarding EC&I and SIS technical integrity of terminal assets.
Liaise closely with HSSE team and provide technical advice when required.
Control the Automation System Digital Security as single point of accountability for the terminals (Cyber SPA). Carry out self-verification and conformance reporting.
Participation in internal and external audits and inspections. Address identified gaps and findings and implement the agreed action plans
Participation in the Self Verification program. Propose corrective actions and track them to completion
What you will need to be successful
Essential Education:
University degree in Electrical/ Instruments or Controls
Essential Experience / Skills:
Relevant EC&I Engineering experience in the Oil & Gas or Chemical industry
Experience and knowledge of Electrical distribution systems, control systems, ATEX and SIS
Knowledge of Terminals and the storage and handling of bulk petroleum products an advantage
Knowledge of process control network architecture, IT/OT environments
Pragmatic approach to problem solving
Fluent in English
Desirable: Functional safety qualification (Functional Safety Practitioner/expert, IEC 61508 & 61511)
Desirable Education / Experience / Skills:
Chartered engineer status or working towards

Knowledge of process control network architecture, IT/OT environments
French speaking / reading skills
