Job Description:

Role Synopsis

The HSE&C Intern will support bp’s goals of eliminating Tier-1 process safety events, eliminating fatalities & life-changing injuries, and embedding a consistent safety culture. The scope includes conducting self-verification to support effective implementation and compliance with bp’s OMS system and associated HSE&C requirements, actively participating in incident investigations, supporting employees on HSE&C initiatives, raising awareness to improve safety culture, coordinating responses to HSE&C concerns, and analyzing HSE&C metrics to drive improvements. It also encompasses providing guidance on environmental and legal regulatory compliance, resolving occupational health and industrial hygiene issues, assisting in emergency drills, and extracting data for HSE&C reports.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in ensuring effective delivery and embedment of bp safety programs, including IOGP LSR, IOGP PSF, and SLPia.
  • Conduct bp self-verification and oversight on contractors to verify effective implementation of bp’s OMS.
  • Participate in risk assessments and management of production risk registers.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations and support investigation leads and incident managers.
  • Coach site workforce and leadership on bp HSE&C best practices.
  • Collaborate with bp site leaders and contractors to enhance HSE&C awareness among site personnel.
  • Contribute to the preparation of HSE&C reports, dashboards, and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate responses and interventions to address HSE&C concerns identified through observations or incident reports.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the workforce concerning HSE&C procedures, hazard identification, and promotional activities.
  • Analyze HSE&C metrics and insights from self-verifications to identify patterns and propose improvements.
  • Understand and communicate current health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to bp operations.
  • Provide guidance on environmental and regulatory concerns, including water and waste management enhancements.
  • Collaborate with management to resolve occupational health and industrial hygiene issues.
  • Assess and analyze exposure data, summarize statistics, and compile reports.
  • Support emergency response drills and capture learnings.

Essential Education

  • Graduate or final-year student.
  • Major in Health, Safety, Environment, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Science, Operations Management, Project Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Omani national.
  • Open for 2023, 2024, 2025 graduates.
