Job Description:

The Markets Team within the Finance organization has the lead role in capturing, developing, maintaining and supporting downstream oil and gas market opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago in service of bpTT’s agenda.

The Trinidad Senior Sales Contracts Specialist role reports to the Senior Finance Manager -Markets and is responsible for driving activities associated with gas, crude and condensate value chains, HVR (Hydrocarbon Value Realization) and commercial compliance & optimization. The incumbent would support through consistent and appropriate application of:

  • Agreement Management: Compliance with obligations and securing new agreements to protect and enhance value
  • Stakeholder Management: Lead collaborate with tagged internal and external partners associated with gas, crude/ condensate and pipeline contracts
  • Value Creation/ Optimization: Identify and deliver value options through commercial optimization including HVR
  • Commercial Operations: Integrate commercial activities with production and operations activities to create, protect and optimize value across the oil and gas value chains.
  • Coach and support development of commercial capability within the team

The role requires a strong combination of proven leadership capabilities, relationship management, communication skills, commercial acuity, economic analysis and critical thinking.

Key Accountabilities:

The Senior Sales Contracts Specialist will be responsible for timely execution of all commercial operations requirements of tagged gas and crude/ condensate agreements and liaising with various internal and external parties. Key responsibilities include:

Agreement and Stakeholder Management

  • Demonstrate safety leadership
  • Protect & promote BP’s interests through deep understanding and compliance of tagged contracts mainly -Gas, Crude and Condensate agreements
  • Cultivate close relationships with key partners to influence and drive performance across all aspects of the business
  • Report to relevant team members on contract performance
  • Maintain relationships with key partners (internal and external) including Projects & Operations, Legal, Perenco, Shell, NGC and NGC Pipeline Company

Negotiations

  • Provide commercial expertise in gas, crude/ condensate matters and lead related negotiations in line with ATNs and commercial plans

Value Creation, Preservation and Optimization

  • Lead the activities in support of tagged gas sales and purchase agreements
  • Lead the activities in support of Galeota Optimisation at the Terminal
  • Lead the Galeota Mix Tender process with proper procedures, documentation and interactions with key partners
  • Utilise deep understanding of the agreements to identify and implement additional value options
  • Ensure HVR activities are in line with BP’s HVR policies/ procedures and practices in particular progressing mismeasurement issues
  • Proven analytical thinking with an ability to quickly translate data into commercial terms
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and to extract key information in the development of sound business solutions.
  • Identify commercial opportunities, manage business risk and pursue mitigation plans
  • Ensure compliance with BP’s code of conduct as well as local laws

Investment Governance

  • Lead the development of the business case for all investment options
  • Lead the development of FMs, facilitate assurance and approval, ensuring robust consistent application of GIAAP and EEM principles
  • Ensure robust and consistent Investment governance processes applied for all investment decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from accredited university, preferably in a business, finance or engineering field;
  • 10+ years’ experience in commercial, finance, or technical areas
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Relevant commercial and finance experience in a mixture of commercial operations, agreement negotiation and management, partner management, planning, investment governance, economic evaluation, as well as financing matters
  • Ability to understand contracts and to apply this to a range of operational scenarios
  • Demonstrated commercial acuity
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships in resolving issues
  • Excellent teamwork and oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent influencing skills at all levels, both within BP and with third parties
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Strong bias for action
  • Numerate and analytical with strong attention to detail

Desirable Criteria:

  • Good understanding of finance
  • Knowledge of LNG and domestic gas and crude/condensate markets
  • Experience working with a range of complex short- and long-term contracts
