We are currently looking for a Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting Manager to join us in Budapest.

In this role you will oversee both operational delivery and project execution for the Hub, ensuring robust, future-proof system design, including managing testing, upgrades, and the implementation of standardization and automation initiatives to transform processes.

You will serve as the gatekeeper for system and process design, ensuring functional and operational stability while guaranteeing that Fixed Assets and Leases are accurately accounted for and reported in accordance with IFRS and group reporting standards. Working closely with operational, policy, business, system architecture teams, project managers, and the global process owner, the role will ensure operational stability and successful strategy execution.

The ideal candidate will be system- and data-savvy, with strong analytical abilities, solid accounting expertise, and a hands-on approach to problem solving with practical experience in Fixed Asset and/or Lease Management or System Deployment. They will possess system architecture knowledge, experience in direct and indirect people management, and a proven track record of driving projects to completion.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead and influence across direct and indirect teams at all levels, fostering trust, motivation, and a performance-driven culture, while role-modelling BP’s values and behaviours to enable organizational and individual growth.

  • Provide strategic support and operational leadership to simplify, standardize, digitize, and transform accounting processes, ensuring efficient service delivery, unlocking value and supporting FBT Finance transformation roadmaps and the digital/automation agenda.

  • Lead and actively contribute to projects focused on scope transition, system change or upgrade, process improvement and risk management.

  • Provide technical guidance and influence system design to ensure operational reliability and end-to-end process efficiency.

  • Serve as finance SME, applying deep knowledge of accounting policies to drive optimal outcomes within compliance, policy, and Delegations of Authority.

  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely recording and reporting in financial statements and ‘Additional and Supplementary’ data, supported by high-quality analytical commentary.

  • Ensure robust Balance Sheet Assurance with timely resolution of non-reconciling items, supported by quality explanations and documentation to minimize financial and audit risk.

  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders—including Business, Accounting Policy, Control, System Architecture, Project Managers, Financial Planning and Assurance, and the Global Process Owner—to support operations and strategy execution

  • Foster an environment where accounting issues are openly raised, owned, addressed and cases leveraged for organizational learning.

  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to finance and business teams to build capabilities, develop competencies, and support professional qualifications.

  • Manage and prioritize diverse demands from multiple sources with a solution-focused approach to maximize outcomes.

  • Establish and monitor operational and strategic KPIs to measure performance and outcomes

Essential Education:

  • Recognised national or international professional accountancy qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA.

  • Absolute fluency in “business English” is mandatory.

Essential Experience & Job Requirements:

  • Strong technical accounting expertise and familiarity with system architecture (preferably SAP or Nakisa) and process design.

  • Proven leadership in finance operations, with experience in global fixed asset and lease management.

  • Proven track record in controls, compliance & risk management in a multi-national environment.

  • Proven track record demonstrating ability to interact with and influence people at all levels within the organisation, building strong relationships quickly.

  • Able to coach individuals and teams in order to improve capability.

  • Exploit ways to do things better, faster and more efficient with measurable value.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrated interest and ability to drive transformation, digitisation, and operational excellence.

  • Proven experience in managing projects, with strong skills in planning, execution, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Qualification in project management (e.g., PMP) would be beneficial.

  • Experience in actuals monitoring and process controlling to enhance cost and process effectiveness.
