About the Pressure Systems Integrity Engineer Intern role

The global bp solutions engineering integrity management team solves the most critical equipment material failure challenges in bp projects and operations around the world. The materials inspection engineer role is accountable to design, qualify, and review high priority material inspections among the four technology themes: non-destructive evaluation (nde), robotics, corrosion monitoring sensors, and data.

The inspection engineer role is adaptable; work activities are matched to each individual’s unique capabilities and ambitions. Deliverables are dynamic and vary from quick immediate consulting guidance to long-term technology developments. This prominent role has exposure to all parts of bp, influences high impact business decisions, collaborates with leading industry experts, and leverages global engineering bp resources including the bp inspection lab in Hammond, Indiana near Chicago.

As a Pressure Systems Integrity Intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Design and complete performance validation testing of new inspection technologies in the bp inspection lab.
  • Support daily operation activities in the bp inspection lab.
  • Support the deployment of inspection technology at bp projects and operations around the world: field trial, scaling to multiple sites, sustaining support.
  • Deliver innovative and pragmatic engineering solutions to bp internal customers in projects and operations teams all over the world.
  • Support efforts to ensure equipment material mechanical integrity risks are understood, controlled, and reduced across the business to deliver safe operating results.

Successful interns may be considered for a full-time role within our One Engineering Program. One Engineering is an early careers program designed to create a pipeline of professional engineers who are high-performers, have broad discipline experience, a transferable skills-set, leading through the energy transition, and solving the most complex problems of today and of the future. Early career discipline engineers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, develop a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed.

    • We pay interns and co-ops a set non-negotiable monthly rate based on your degree major, degree level and year of graduation. For this role, monthly salaries range from $4,813 to $7,875.
    • *Please note the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this position at the time of posting.

Minimum Requirements for the (name of role) internship

  • Working toward Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Non-Destructive Evaluation or Equivalent Field of Study.
  • Graduating between December 2026 and May 2027
  • Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (bp will not support U.S. Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long-term employment)
  • Must be available to start 12-week internship on May 18, 2026 or June 15, 2026 (will be required to pass all background and medical checks at least one week prior to start date)
