Job Description:

The Global Supply Risk Manager is to take the lead to underpin and significantly improve our underlying resilience in supply of raw materials, packaging & third party manufacturing.

On top of that, the role needs to drive improvement in the function’s risk profile and risk management capabilities to address emerging forms of risk and the effective deployment of Group risk management practices including RMR. Ensuring RAT tool & related actions are closed out.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Global Resilience Program to develop the program roadmap and deliver risk prioritised strategies to protect against the loss of margin and potential liability from catastrophic loss of supply.
  • Single Point of Accountability for Resilience with suppliers for Direct procurement globally.
  • Working with the procurement hub managers and the Global Resilience team to identify key materials to the lubes and fuels businesses and to then resolve where there is a net high risk of supply disruption and high damage to the business as a result.
  • Responsible for handling programs and projects to assess global supply risk and developing and implementing risk mitigation plans to de-risk the vulnerability across E2E supply chain.
  • Working with suppliers, wider procurement, and the Global Resilience team de-risk the net high-risk items via various approaches.
  • Increase buffer stock holding both at supplier and / or bp.
  • Ensuring multiple approved locations of manufacture.
  • Ensuring multiple approved suppliers of relevant chemicals and intermediates.
  • Approval and documentation of formal alternate formulations / suppliers.
  • Responsible for handling programs and projects to assess global supply risk and developing and implementing risk mitigation plans to de-risk the vulnerability across E2E supply chain.
  • When / where needed, supports and/or lead business continuity and incident management teams in response to product supply continuity disruption for the Direct Procurement team.
  • Take the lead for Direct Procurement on Core / Restrict / Delete working closely with IPM team CRD tag. Responsible for raw material management within the Direct Procurement team including pro-active decommercialization by both bp and our suppliers.
  • Where decommercialization of an item requires take or pay stock build to ensure future supply e.g. to an OEM the job holder will be responsible to work with the country / performance unit to appraise the need and set up the relevant agreements.
  • Engage senior partners to align on global resilience program priorities and decisions by facilitating the Resilience Steering Committee and Functional Governance Board meetings.
  • Lead Risk management agenda for Global Procurement, across all areas including sustainability, resilience, quality, contract compliance and Ethics & Compliance.
  • Establish measure and report Key Performance Indicators.

Essential Education, Experience And Job Requirements

  • University degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12 to 15 years of relevant work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of the lubricants supply chain, products, specifications and formulations for the raw materials in scope of the Resilience programme.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain network and raw material value chain.

  • Good analytical and data skills; strong project and program management skills.

  • Strong track record in project team delivery with emphasis on collaboration, engagement, and inclusion of stakeholders.

  • Ability to overcome obstacles and adapts approach to achieve outstanding results.

  • Excellent influencing skills to ensure all stakeholders are appropriately engaged.

  • Proven experience of working cross-culturally and across geographies.

  • Strong People Leadership, business partnering, commercial competence.
