Communications Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to join bp’s Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) communications team and help bring to life the business’s role in advancing the energy transition. ST&S plays a pivotal role in how bp delivers energy today and transforms for the future.

As a Communications Coordinator, you’ll support the delivery of high-impact internal and external communications, campaigns and events that engage employees, build reputation and connect with key collaborators. You’ll work closely with experienced senior communicators, business colleagues and cross-functional teams to help shape content, coordinate planning and contribute to creative storytelling that showcases bp’s progress.

In this role You will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the ST&S business and anticipate communication needs.
  • Design and deliver an internal communications plan showcasing how ST&S is delivering against bp’s strategy and business priorities to help ST&S employees understand the strategy and celebrate key achievements. This will include leading on quarterly webcasts and other routine internal communications for the entity.
  • Provide advice to the ST&S leadership team and other partners on strategic communications.
  • Coordinate global campaigns in service of ST&S business objectives and bp-wide campaigns (e.g. safety) using audience insights and creative storytelling. Collaborate with the communications & external affairs (C&EA) team to ensure consistency in messaging and channel strategy.
  • Manage channels including the intranet, Viva, Teams Live events and dot digital email.
  • Measure the effectiveness of internal communications activities, using insights and standard methodology to help with continuous improvement.

What You will need to be successful:

  • Fluency in English
  • Hands-on, well-rounded communicator experienced in campaign management, partner management and business partnering.
  • Strong writing and editing skills. Able to convey subtle, technical, or complex information simply, effectively, and creatively.
  • Strong digital fluency, able to use a variety of digital channels (e.g., SharePoint, Viva Engage, Teams Live Events) and storytelling techniques (e.g., video, podcasts, graphics).
  • Demonstrates resilience, flexibility, and a willingness to explore different paths to achieve an outcome; adjusts quickly and efficiently to new circumstances.
  • Comfortable navigating a complex organization and building strong relationships with diverse collaborators at all levels of bp, across regions and businesses, as well as external partner groups.
  • Interested in the business and driven by contributing to company success.
  • A self-starter, able to prioritize and complete work with little supervision.
  • Digitally curious – able to proactively bring new ways of working into team to enhance performance.
