About the Supply, Trading, and Shipping Graduate Program:
Early careers who join the Supply, Trading & Shipping early careers program will follow one of these tracks: trading, analytics, operations, and marketing & origination. Please apply to one track at a time. Early careers will follow a structured development offer to accelerate the acquisition of foundational technical skills, experience, knowledge, and application in the business world. The program supports transition from university to discipline professional and provides a framework of ‘non-technical’ skills to support building personal effectiveness skills.
About the Trading Track within Supply, Trading, & Shipping:
Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) is bp's face to the traded markets in oil, natural gas, power, chemicals, renewables and finance. Empowering the deep expertise and leadership of our people
Joining our energy trading team, you will be part of managing our trades on the major energy commodity exchanges and the Over-the-Counter market as well as our daily exposure to global currency and interest rate fluctuations. You will have the opportunity to experience different trading disciplines and styles from physical trading to paper trading and may even have the opportunity to specialize in quantitative or financial markets trading. Beyond that, you will have the chance to work across rotations, including market analytics, physical operations, and working as trading analyst for one of our trading benches.
The Trading Development Program (TDP) is structured to provide an overview and introduction to the trading business and commercial strategy for a new employee. The TDP will spend three years in this role with rotations across commodities and disciplines gaining the vital skills and experience and providing a path to the Assessed Traders Course at the end of the program.
The areas of exposure can include, but are not limited to:
Commodity Trading, Market Analytics, and Physical Operations
Ad hoc initiatives, analysis and/or projects
Natural Gas, Power, and Natural Gas Liquids trading benches
Minimum Requirements
Working toward Bachelor’s degree
Graduating between December 2025 and May 2026
Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0
Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (bp will not support U.S. Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long-term employment)
Must be available to start on agreed upon global program start dates (January 20, 2026 or July 13, 2026).
