We envision an emission-free future across all industries. Our mission is to develop robust, versatile, and easy-to-use products that deliver clean energy - empowering businesses and people to achieve more. We're seeking individuals who bring entrepreneurial drive, adaptability, and enthusiasm, and who thrive in an environment of continuous learning and evolution.

Job Overview

Ampd Energy designs and manufactures mobile Battery Power Systems (BPS) that replace diesel generators on construction sites, in mining operations, and across heavy industry. Our product line includes the Ampd 200 and Ampd 400, and soon the Ampd 800, shipping to customers across the US, UK, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Asia.

We are looking for a Senior Logistics Specialist to own end-to-end global logistics for our BPS units and spare parts. This role covers international freight (ocean, air, and multimodal), in-country road and rail transport, dangerous goods compliance, customs clearance, and warehouse coordination. The right person will be hands-on, commercially sharp on carrier management, and capable of building the logistics infrastructure to support a fast-growing hardware business.

Key Responsibilities

    International Freight & Multimodal Transport

  • Manage end-to-end global shipping for BPS units and spare parts, covering ocean freight (FCL and breakbulk), air freight, and multimodal transport

  • Plan and execute shipments across the full product range, recognising that different products have different shipping profiles: Ampd 200 ship in standard containers; Ampd 400 can ship containerised (tight fit) or as flat rack cargo; Ampd 800 ships as a standard 20ft high-cube container

  • Coordinate Out of Gauge (OOG) and flat rack shipments where required, including booking, lashing, securing, route surveys, and special handling

  • Handle logistics exceptions including rerouting, port changes, inspections, demurrage, and detention issues

  • In-Country Road & Rail Transport
  • Support in-market Sales Operations teams on in-country last-mile logistics, primarily in the US and UK/EU, with the ability to support all markets as required. In-market teams lead delivery execution; this role provides logistics expertise, carrier coordination, and route planning support

  • Support on coordinating road/rail transport to sites, including route planning for oversized or heavy loads, escort and permitting requirements, and site access logistics

  • Work with regional logistics partners to ensure reliable delivery to remote or constrained job sites

  • Dangerous Goods Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for dangerous goods compliance across all transport modes.

  • Ensure all shipments of lithium-ion battery systems comply with applicable DG regulations: IMDG Code (sea), IATA DGR (air), ADR (European road), DOT/49 CFR (US road), and equivalent local regulations in all operating markets

  • Manage DG classification, packaging requirements, labelling, and documentation including shipper’s declarations of dangerous goods

  • Maintain current DG certifications and ensure all freight forwarders and carriers hold appropriate dangerous goods handling approvals

  • Stay current on evolving lithium battery transport regulations and proactively flag changes that affect Ampd’s shipping operations

  • Carrier & Freight Forwarder Management

  • Build and manage a panel of freight forwarders, shipping lines, road carriers, and last-mile logistics providers across all operating regions

  • Run competitive tenders and negotiate rates, service levels, and contract terms

  • Establish and monitor carrier SLAs covering on-time delivery, cargo handling, DG compliance, and communication standards

  • Conduct regular carrier performance reviews and maintain a qualified supplier list

  • Develop contingency routing and backup carrier arrangements to mitigate disruption risk

  • Warehouse Coordination

  • Manage regional warehouse operations including receiving, storage, and outbound dispatch of BPS units

  • Note: inventory management of spare parts is owned by the Service team, and inventory of sales-ready units is owned by Sales Operations. This role is responsible for the warehouse facility, inbound/outbound logistics, and warehouse provider management — not stock decisions

  • Coordinate with warehouse partners on space planning, handling procedures for lithium-ion battery systems, and compliance with local storage regulations

  • Shipment Visibility & Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide proactive, real-time visibility on unit shipment status and estimated arrival dates to Sales and Customer Experience teams

  • Ensure shipment tracking data is accurate and feeds into the company dashboard so Sales can track unit arrivals without chasing logistics manually

  • Work with the Software team to define and maintain the data integration between logistics tracking systems and the Ampd dashboard

  • Communicate proactively on delays, exceptions, or schedule changes to all affected internal stakeholders

  • Costing & Compliance

  • Prepare logistics cost estimates including transportation cost forecasting and end-to-end landed cost analysis

  • Understand customs duties and tax regulations across operating markets, and advise on HS code classification to optimise clearance and cost efficiency

  • Analyse total landed cost structure to support business planning and pricing decisions

  • Identify and execute cost reduction initiatives across route optimisation, carrier negotiation, mode selection, and container utilisation

  • Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain logistics SOPs, supplier management processes, and operational standards

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate logistics risks including delays, customs issues, compliance gaps, and cargo damage

  • Drive continuous improvement in logistics performance, cost, and reliability

Skills Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in international logistics, ideally in a hardware or industrial product company

  • Demonstrated experience with dangerous goods shipping, specifically lithium-ion batteries or equivalent Class 9 hazmat cargo. Current DG certification strongly preferred

  • Strong experience with in-country road and rail transport logistics, including oversized or heavy load planning, permitting, and carrier coordination

  • Experience managing freight forwarder and carrier panels, running tenders, and holding providers to SLAs

  • Solid understanding of FCL, breakbulk, and multimodal shipping methods

  • Experience with customs compliance, HS code classification, and landed cost analysis across multiple jurisdictions

  • Strong capability in logistics cost analysis, budgeting, and cost reduction

  • Experience in International shipments from China to US, UK/EU, Australia, Middle East, or Southeast Asia logistics operations

  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills — comfortable working across sales, service, supply chain, finance, and software teams

  • Familiarity with logistics systems (TMS, ERP) and ability to work with software teams on data integration

  • Fluent English and Mandarin communication skills (written and verbal)

Key Competencies

To excel in this role, these key competencies are highly valued.

  • Dangerous Goods Compliance (Lithium-Ion / Class 9)

  • International & Domestic Freight Management

  • Carrier & Forwarder Commercial Management

  • In-Country Road & Rail Transport

  • Cost Optimisation & Landed Cost Analysis

  • Customs & HS Code Knowledge

  • Warehouse Operations Coordination

  • Stakeholder Communication & Shipment Visibility

  • Risk Management & Problem Solving
